About me
A third culture kid (TCK), sometimes called a global nomad, refers to someone
who has spent a significant period of their developmental years in one or more culture(s)
other than their birth culture and has integrated elements of those cultures into a third culture.
Who I am
I am a TCK born in Nairobi, Kenya to Filipino parents serving as missionaries and grew up in
Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, USA, Liberia, The Philippines and Thailand. Traveling the world
most of my life, I've grown to love being a global nomad but enjoy calling USA my home...for now.
As a graphic designer for the past 10 years, I've had the opportunity to work in-house, for design agencies and as a freelancer.
I have designed for print, web and interactive CD projects of all sizes and have extensive experience in multi-piece
marketing campaigns. I am equally capable in photography and some videography. I have worked for higher education,
retail, health care, small businesses, religious and non-profit organizations.
All these experiences combined have made me a designer with the following qualities:
- Strategic thinker
- Excellent leadership and planning skills
- Adaptable and efficient
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Team player and team builder
- Dedicated to growth and learning
- Ability to relate across cultures

Achievements
Below is a short list of contributions I've made to the teams I've worked for:
- Developed award winning recruitment campaigns specifically targeted to address higher education recruitment and
retention objectives for nationally recognized colleges and universities.
- Successfully art directed and re-designed Walmart's bilingual magazine cutting pagination to half saving time and cost
in production and providing a seamless and integrated Spanish-English reader experience.
- Taught myself 360 degree panoramic photography skills to enhance the company's interactive capabilities and provide high
end work in a segment suffering from mediocre work; developed training materials and trained staff to acquire the same skills.
- Successfully art directed and designed targeted programs that included magazines, books, newsletters, POS, web sites, branding and packaging
that strengthened consumer loyalty mutually benefiting retail clients and national brands.
- Brought brand consistency to a chain of stores for a nationally recognized paint company by developing, managing and executing an
identity style guide for store signage, advertising and POS.
- Created, executed and refined a collaborative and documented process of higher education photography that resulted in maximum efficiency
for photographers on-site visits while providing a highly creative suite of photos for agency and client use.
